Dear MidTown Stakeholder,
|
At Wachovia/Wells Fargo, we had the opportunity to put our new retail store in numerous suitable locations; however, there was no better place to build what will be our largest retail transaction center in the state of Georgia than MidTown Columbus. The new Wachovia/Wells Fargo location on 3201 Macon Road in Cross Country Plaza combines two previous branches to help us serve over 60,000 Columbus, Georgia households. The 4,500-square-foot store will employ 20 and have nine teller lanes, five drive-through lanes, one walk-up ATM and one drive-through ATM. The store incorporates "green" environmentally friendly features including energy-efficient light fixtures, water-saving plumbing fixtures, low-emitting primers, paints, adhesives, flooring and furniture. There is substantial recycled content in ceiling, flooring and furniture. It will be the first store in the state of Georgia with the Wells Fargo bank store layout.
The store is conveniently located just off I-185 to serve the entire Columbus region, including Fort Benning, and its 28,000 residents moving to our area as a result of the creation of the new Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning. We firmly believe this store is just the beginning of the new investment to come to the strategically located MidTown Columbus. Stop by and visit this new MidTown addition.
At Wachovia/Wells Fargo, we proudly support the MidTown Business Association. Visit the MBA Website, view the MBA directory and become a member today.

Wachovia/Wells Fargo Makes Grant to MidTown, Inc.
|
In celebration of the Grand Opening of its new MidTown location, Wachovia/Wells Fargo made a generous contribution of $15,000 to MidTown, Inc. to demonstrate Wachovia's commitment to the further re-development of the area. (MidTown, Inc. is the non-profit organization charged with implementing MidTown's 25-year redevelopment plan). The funds will be used to bring educational speakers to Columbus to talk about innovative economic development strategies used in other communities and to facilitate Columbus' efforts to address (and restore to productive use) vacant and abandoned properties that blight and deteriorate neighborhoods. | Renovations Complete on the "Come Home to MidTown" House |
Many of you may remember the grand Victorian-style house featured in our Come Home to MidTown commercial. It is one of the most talked about shots of the commercial; and, surprisingly, it was not even slated to be featured. Our camera crew and production team couldn't pass up the opportunity, though, once they saw it. On a quiet stretch of MidTown's 18th Street, just west of LakeBottom park, a colorful 1890's three-story dwelling stands head-to-head alongside a venerable Magnolia tree, which beckons visitors forward past period lampposts. Testament to the ongoing progress in MidTown neighborhoods, and fully renovated recently by Richard Thomas and team, this imposing structure stands at 1512 - 18th Street. From the totally updated kitchen, replete with stainless steel appliances; to a Tiffany- style light fixture, the home is a blend of old and new. The wrap-around porch takes one back to the days when porches were gathering places and perches for first- hand accounts of the neighborhood activities. At 3600 square feet, the dwelling has many large rooms for great flexibility in layout and usage; making possible as many as five bedrooms, with several suites. It is a must see property, so call Richard Thomas (706-570-5698) for an appointment.
